Tuesdays are lady leaders' meeting days. Leaders' meetings (or "women's meetings," in Fairwood terminology) are my responsibility, and I enjoy coming up with things to share. Today I talked very briefly about time management, then segued into the importance of not wasting mental/emotional time, based on Aunt Sharon's recent article.
A few other favorite leaders' meeting topics: Mike and Debi Pearl's article on joy, praising God during difficult times, setting the atmosphere in your room, showing love through good manners. Those are the plain topics; the ones the girls remember better are those on subjects such as grasshopper spirits and Juggernaut cars and front hall girls and manna days and hoydens. Some repertoire I have. One of them asked me if I ever spoke at youth camps--and that was after I had spoken on Proverbs 7. How many youth camps do you know that would invite a speaker in to talk to girls on Proverbs 7?
Actually, the inspiration for that message came from Rick and Kathy Fulton, who did indeed speak to us at a girls' week on Proverbs 7 many years ago. I get too much credit for merely passing on what others have given me.
So thank you, others. Your legacy continues.

Ahhh...yes; Tuesdays. What would we be without them...a bunch of hoydens? Probably. But alas, because of your perseverance and occasionaly outbursts of hilarity; the world is saved from total insanity!!!!
Alhough occasionally these official sounding meetings seem to produce a damper on life (mainly because of temporary conviction) I can say for all of us...we would be a lot worse off without them.
I think that it's the snacks, and periodical trips to Wendy's (j/k) that keep us coming back week after week (not to mention that it is required!) And cause us to truly miss the aforesaid meetings when we are unfortunate enough to leave. :(
Honestly, I can say that many of these lessons are engrained in my memory. (they should be after this long--let's see it's probably close to 70 or 80 meetings by now, and who knows how many more to go!)
So, once again I will look forward to our weekly meetings in "the usual place." Learning and sharing and hearing will give me an extra boost for the week ahead. Rain, shine, good times or hard times, laughs or tears...I'll be there!
Keep on being our happy fearless wonderful Kendra! Love you!
