Happy Things

Recent happy things . . .
  • Being oh-so smug about getting on the finicky elevator with two maintenance men, thereby presuming I would be spared all potential harm (getting stuck), then having Humberto burst my bubble as he smirked, "Actually, in here we are helpless."
  • A late-night phone call from a brother telling me that he wants to visit me on spring break
  • Surprise Starbucks
  • "Claybub" Murray
  • Ruthie moving in
  • Getting to talk to Mrs. Gergeni
  • Suspecting a phone caller named Thibault of being from NH and having my suspicions confirmed
  • God providing my needs and so much more. "All this, and Christ, too."
  • An e-mail from Norway
  • Mrs. Rodgers back
  • Looking forward to new EQUIP students
  • Annette's "buckeyed peas"
  • "It'd have to be cheap!" --Jenine, evaluating the worth of a tape of Kendra's messages
  • Barbara Manatee, the great S.C. (sea cow)
  • Nuns, and fros, and waterboys
  • "It reaches me." --Mr. Gergeni, of Mrs. Gergeni's cane
  • The story of Mrs. G. singeing off her eyelashes by shocking herself by changing a light bulb while curling her eyelashes

Thanks so much for posting all these things that make you happy it gave me a very cool idea. We should start a team happy book over here in Taiwan.

For those sleuthing types (Mrs. J!) who think that I incriminated Mrs. Gergeni in the eyelash story, I didn't. It was another Mrs. G, and she will remain anonymous.

Kendra! I'm happy to see you've joined the world of blogging! I just had a comment on the Barbara Manatee thing on your Happy List...My BOSS at the Shelter started singing that the other day at the breakfast table...I had never heard it before and it got stuck in my head...Can't wait to hear the real thing someday.

Yes, Claire, isn't it a stupid song? It's my nickname for a friend named Jenine Barbara. We got to discussing alternatives the other day, but decided that "manatee" definitely trumps "sea cow."

Hey Kendra! Thanks so much for doing this!! It is great! Would Mrs. G happen to be related to Aunt Deloris? :-)

Miss Anonymous with the Aunt Deloris: Hmmmm . . . were you on the internet in the phone lobby, or at the desk? 'Fess up, now! (Or do you merely know of Aunt Deloris? If so, you're a good guesser.)

Kendra, you can put your mind at ease. It is no one in the building that guessed that. I just know things. Perhaps anonymity is good...it keeps me from getting into trouble.

Paula? Katheryn? Shelly?! Who else would know about Aunt Deloris? (Come clean, Polly!)

He, he...you are way off. Perhaps someday I could tell you...when I know I am out of hot water. Right now it is fun keeping you in suspense; I have never been able to do that before.

Busted, Jessica. You can run, but you can't hide.

Kendra,

Bummer!!! Who blew my cover? Kip was the only one who knew about it because I told her when she was telling me how convinced you were it was Kathryn. The first time I was anonymous I forgot to sign my name, after that it was just fun. :-)
