Title Note

I dislike many things trendy, but blogging looks like too much fun to pass up. Life is full of such mirth and interesting surprises. Now I can share with more than those immediately around me. Those from Indy circles will recognize the "happy book" theme; a few FBI contemporaries might, too. Steph A. birthed the idea by leaving the original happy book in Bath 3 in the girls' dorm at Fairwood. The next year we girls made our own, and the idea stuck for a couple of years thereafter.

When started dean of women-ish responsibilities in Indy three years ago, I resurrected the idea, and began a happy book for here. That same volume sits in my EQUIP office today. It's mostly filled with my writing, because I need an outlet for excitement--or an outlet for frustration, depending on the day. Count on writing or re-reading happy things to help my attitude. But others' handwriting is sprinkled throughout. When something particularly amusing happens, someone often declares, "Put that in the happy book!"

"You need to put it in the happy book yourself," I retort. Yesterday one of the girls told me, "Now we have our own happy books, so we don't write in yours as much." That must be proof that it's a good idea, because it is reproducing. (Something to be happy about.)

Thanks to information technology, many more of you can now hear about the happy things in my life. Happy things aren't always pleasant things, but they are things I thank God for. Some of them may be leaders meeting-type thoughts, for those of you who actually miss those. Some of them will be lines directly from the pages of the real happy book. Some of them will be ridiculous stories that actually happened. Hope the happy things encourage you, too.

Guess what Kendra? We kept up the happy book tradition through my three years of Bible school, and when I was at Fairwood a few weeks, I spotted the familiar notebook - the tradition continues!
And welcome to Blogdom!

Trendy isn't necessarily bad. Surely blogging has more inherent virtue than bell-bottoms and big hair. I'm so glad you've joined the blogosphere!

Kendra! Yay! I get to share the happish bookish things in my life! The most recent one being that I got a close to brand new digital camera for my b-day for half as much as it would have been new!! I love great deals. The eyelash story made me laugh. I could tell a few about punk mohawks at school, but I'll refrain.
