Goodbye, WalMart

The other day I tried to take notes in language class one of those little notepad notebooks. Not so practical. So I came home and knew that I needed a larger notebook before I even started my day's assignments. I wasn't sure where I could get one, and I wistfully recalled WalMart and wished for the comforts of home.

Nevertheless, I donned my balto and scarft and hit the streets, hoping that the little stationery store I had spied close to home was open. It was. Three minutes to walk there (and three minutes to cross the street), a glance around the store, a dialog with the storekeeper (in English!), and I had the perfect five-subject notebook in hand. Well, as perfect as a notebook that opens on the left hand side can be.

Okay, I'll take the 12 minute round-trip walk over a 40-minute round trip drive to Wally World any day.
