The driving here is probably what makes me grump the most. Just the unpredictability--the slowing down to a stop and then putting on a turn signal (maybe), and the pull-out mentality that means that you don't necessarily stop at an intersection (stop sign or no), you pull into traffic long as there's space, even if it makes oncoming traffic slow down. There's a particular stop sign that I'm scared to stop at if anyone is behind me, because no one else stops, and they will surely ram me if I stop and they're not expecting me to. I have to hope that the police will understand this if they ever see me not stop.
But this is the happy things blog, not the gripe blog, so on that note I bring you a delightful excerpt from this article, "Doritos for Potheads: the Police They Are A Changin'":
In smaller towns, police have started to pull drivers over for "good driving" and reward the surprised motorists with gift cards. In Saratoga Springs, Utah, two years ago, police pulled over safe drivers and handed them turkeys before Thanksgiving. In Las Vegas last year, officers distributed minor league baseball tickets to motorists who abided by the rules of the road.
Of course turkeys and baseball tickets are hard to come by here, but I'd take a gift card! All kidding aside, I love the reminder that our authorities exist not only to punish evil, but to praise good! So praise something good you see today; it'll make someone else happy.

Haha! This is just like the example of the distinction between grace vs. mercy Dad shared a couple days ago:
Mercy is when the police man pulls you over for speeding and lets you go with no ticket. Grace is when he gives you a box of Dunkin Donuts as you drive off! (Or in this case, Doritos!)
