Back to Basics

When you haven't blogged in so long that you've almost forgotten how, remember that the blog is titled "Happy Things," and it's okay to just jot out a few of those, rather than make some whiz-bang post to make up for the four silent months.

  • The turbaned guy who wore his sunglasses all through the grocery store. Because he did make me smile, as well as roll my eyes.
  • That my landlord and his son are kind men
  • That a lot of men around me are kind men, which I need to remind myself of after reading a woman's real-life account of a lot of horrible men in her life
  • Online internet classes
  • Rain, even though it usually comes within 24 hours of me washing my car. But then it rained hard enough to almost kinda wash my car.
  • The prospect of teaching again next week! Business English and Conversation & Pronunciation, two "half-classes"
  • Connecting people. This time a friend of a friend of a friend who will do job training in TX this month. Facebook is wonderful, and Joy's brother-in-law is great for offering to connect with him. Oh, and a friend whose husband studies in the UK, two hours from where Karena lives. Networking is my spiritual gift.
  • Working from home
  • Being in touch with Kayla and Clyde via WhatsApp
  • That one of Kayla's English students asked me for quick homework help this afternoon on text. And, praises be, he really was just asking for clarification of the question, not the answer.
  • A fabulous three-day trip to a city nine hours south. It will deserve a post of its own someday.
And now I should return to lesson planning.

I like being in touch with you too.:)

Also, I remembered recently that I acted out the effects of cheating in front of my students. "If you cheat, you are hurting yourself! You are hurting yourself!" *smack-myself*smack-myself* I wonder now if it made an impression.:)
