Happy Things

  • My sister and my mother are in the next room watching a Herbie movie
  • I jogged for 25 minutes straight this evening for the first time in my life
  • I listened to Christmas music (and other music) as I jogged
  • I made new friends in Munsonville from speaking to the ladies' group there about life overseas
  • I made new friends in Penacook when I spoke at Aunt Lori's church there on Sunday
  • Picking blueberries by the handful is addictive. $13-something poorer, I have a lot of blueberries in the freezer for smoothies.
  • I remembered how much I loved Bach at the Apple Hill concert Tuesday evening
  • The Apple Hill concert was free
  • I love Sarah Kim, my kindred spirit professional violinist friend
  • The Hendrixsons introduced me to a serve-yourself dairy farm in Temple that has delish ice cream. I went there yesterday and today (with different people). The single servings for $1.25 are good for kids who can't finish the kiddie sizes at other ice cream places.
  • New Hampshire is still beautiful
  • Today I stopped in one of those stores I've driven by hundreds of times and never gone in. It was a dollhouse and miniatures store. Dollhouses have fascinated me since I admired my cousin Karen's when I was small. There was a dollhouse in today's store selling for more than twice what I paid for my car. I could stop there again and again.
  • I went in the dollhouse store with one of my clients. "A female client, I presume?" Kayla asked when I told her. Um, yes. I tried picturing taking the only male client I ever had there. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have gotten out of the car.
  • I get to cook for my family, which is far more worthwhile than cooking for me alone
  • I moved overseas a year ago yesterday. I'm looking forward to going back overseas, hopefully in October or November.
  • I talked to a friend overseas on Sunday. I picked up the phone, dialed, and there she was. Just like that. Okay, I know that this is the twenty-first century. But I still think that technology is amazing.
  • I wonder if the people at McDonald's or Wendy's think that I have four, five, six children. Because I go there semi-regularly with different kids. Well, they're probably smart enough to figure out that I'm a social worker, especially since some of them know the kids from when they come in with their parents, and if they followed that knowledge to a logical conclusion, I would be a kidnapper. Trust me, I'm not.
  • I have a boss who calls and says, "I have a free ticket to a play tomorrow. Wanna take someone to it?" And I get to do that for work. And it really does benefit the person I'm going to take.
  • I'm really motivated to blog when I have other things I need to be doing. Wait, is that a happy thing?!

Yay for you jogging! I'm so impressed! And laughing at you for listening to Christmas music while you did it : )

Happy about your happinesses--I enjoyed reading these, as usual.
