Forward Light

Monday evening in Perspectives class, our speaker joked, "I'll bet you had your devotions in Leviticus this morning, reading about the year of Jubilee." Actually, I had. It took me a long time to really enjoy Exodus-Deuteronomy, but after reading and re-reading, and many, "Lord, I don't know why this is in heres," I confess I like them. So much imagery, so many analogies, so many mysteries!

The New Living Translation puts Numbers 8:2 this way: "The LORD said to Moses, 'Tell Aaron that when he sets up the seven lamps in the lampstand, he is to place them so that their light shines forward.'"

Forward light. It didn't shine backward, highlighting what was behind--glories and gaffes. It showed what was next, what was immediately there in front of it.

I'm in need of some of that right now, not just for life decisions, but to show me more of Jesus Himself. I'm looking ahead, looking up.
