During the times this past month that I took care of Grammie, she frequently wondered aloud where her sister, Lois, was. Aunt Lois has been in heaven a good many years, and I patiently explained this to Grammie again and again. It didn't usually bother her, and she'd say something like, "Oh well. She's better off then." Sometimes she would cry and wonder why no one had told her that Lois was gone. But she would ask about Lois again later.
Tuesday, Grammie went to heaven herself. There are a lot of people there, but I like to think that she's already found Lois. She doesn't have to wonder any more. She's seen Jesus, too, and I know she's way better off.
(I'm home for the funeral today, thanks to a thoughtful and persistent friend who found me a reasonable ticket.)

Hurray! ( Loved the title...) Glad you got to be home for the funeral. Wish I could have been there. Lots of love to you and your family...
I'm sorry, Kendra!! It's nice to know she's somewhere better, but yet it is sad to have them gone, too! I'm glad you were able to be at home longer though and spend some time with her! - Kimberly
I was beginning to wonder if anybody in your family was going to blog about your grandma! I'm so glad you got to come home to her funeral. Auntie was a special lady.
That's sad, but it's a good thing at the same time. I'm glad you get to go be with your family. ~ Rachel
It was great to see you, Kendra!
I like to think of Gramma beholding for the first time with her very own eyes that God IS still on the throne!
So glad you got to be there, Kendra! One of my first thoughts when I heard she'd gone home was, "I'm glad Kendra just got to spend a while at home!"
I'm rejoicing with her! :O)
I like your post title . . . and sorry too about your loss here!
