Happy Things

These from Matt, Jamie, Nina, and yours truly . . .

  • Hearing Pastor Goodwin trying to pronounce names of rap stars-and referring to a deceased rapper as "Schupbach Shakur"
  • Driving in snow
  • Talks while line running
  • The Paines' willingness to do unpleasant jobs
  • Gina telling me that "nothing" rhymes with her name. Given this challenge, I proceeded to discover that several words do, indeed, rhyme with "Gina."
    My #2 favorite: "hyena"
My #1 favorite-the way a Bostonian might say "hot dog": "weenah"
(I don't think that Gina will resurrect the subject for a while)
  • Jamie: "Give (guys) power!" (second part of quote intentionally omitted)
  • Kendra, when reminded that killing all guys would result in the extermination of life, she says: "What are we waiting for?"
  • Matt, the Out-of-Context king
  • Nuh-uh! I was there!
  • Kendra's "new and improved" way of brushing her teeth [I was brandishing the long lighter, immediately after lighting my candle]
  • Jamie and Kendra thinking of practical jokes like shocking people, and what if it didn't work right? [I was recalling the legendary story of the Fairwood men who rigged a bed so that they could shock its occupants]
  • Winning my first game of Phase 10
  • Being dubbed a snot [by myself] for the above
  • Alison's dream about health conference . . . that Matt got up for announcements and said that, thought not everyone would believe in this, they were going to post a list of recommended wines and highlight one for each meal-then they put up on the marker board which wines went with which meals
  • Matt crowing, " . . . as virtuous as a grape! . . . (and you know what comes from grapes when they are squeezed-w(h)ine!" (actually, Matt's whole character quality monologue)
  • Roommates who make my bed
  • Arts and crafts in leaders' meeting [idea compliments of Julie LaF.]
  • Good books (such as Paul David Tripp books)
  • Brent eating flowers
  • Kendra to John Michael, who was wearing a crown: "Do we have a king at our training center? . . . a prince? Should we bow or curtsey to you?"
Mrs. Paine: "No." (to John Michael's credit, I think she shook her head above him)
    John Michael: "Yes."
  • Line running with Alicia M.
  • Out-loud laughter
  • Tiah's predictable choice of raspberry lemonade
  • Being ahead on school
  • A phone call and an e-mail from Taiwan in the same morning
  • Letters from former EQUIP students (like Jeanne Marie)!
  • Comments on my blog
  • Bonus dessert from the kitchen
  • Anticipating seeing Jason again!
  • Finding Carrie Fulton's blog and so picturing her saying, "I yearn to be a Flylady."

Tell Gina that "weenah", and "hyena" are better than the "flabby", "crabby", and "gabby" that rhyme with Abby. I think that I would rather be stuck with one of those. At least you don't get a mental image of an obese, sour busy-body with her rhymes. =P
